It's probably not a virus. on your desktop, right click on the desktop, properties, screen saver. Choose something appropriate ^_^

Also, McAfee, like Norton, has a bad habit of making a computer lag, not catching all of the viruses, and being unbelievably expensive. try avira from free-av.com. it's better, and doesn't cost a dime. How do i get rid of a virus that changes word document to screensaver?
Unfortunately, I think it might be. Does the ';.doc'; part stay there, but followed by a ';.scr'; like this ';filename.doc.scr';? If so, it is definitely a virus. The ';.scr'; is intended to be hidden on some Windows machines, duping the reader into double clicking on it. Instead of it opening in Word, the .scr will run as a program, infecting the machine. If this double-extension is on the file, it's likely not even a Word document any more.

Are your McAfee's virus definitions up to date?

I also suggest you download Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S%26amp;D (they檙e free), install them, update them and run them. If they don't seem to be able to get rid of everything they report finding, try running them again, this time in Safe Mode. Safe Mode prevents many instances of malware from loading and protecting themselves against deletion of their files.

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

To get into Safe Mode:

1. Log out and reboot your machine.

2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.

3. Select Safe Mode from the resulting menu.

4. The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different. You won't be able to see the Internet, for instance. You may have to log in as Administrator to delete the bad files. Administrator often has no password.

5. When you're finished, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

Good luck.
