How do i install original XP screensaver - no tabs in settings?

I accidentally deleted screensaver after a virus changed my desktop. There are no tabs for screensaver in settings. I don't want to reinstall whole XP. There are no theme or screensaver tabsHow do i install original XP screensaver - no tabs in settings?
This happened to me recently. I picked up the AntiVirus 2008 virus. None of my proper anti virus or registry cleaners would get rid of it permanently. If any part of this virus remains in the system, the PC will still be infected with the subsequent blue screen logo and your anti virus system shouting that you have a ';badjoke'; bluescreen program. So this is what you need to do to get rid of this permanently and restore your screensaver program without reinstalling your XP disc or use program restore. It a bit of a pain, but that is why these bugs are designed to do. Cause disruption.

So here goes.

1. Open regit and in edit select find.

tell it to find phcv1cj0er1q.

2. Open Widows in C drive and locate the screensaver icon of the same as above. It will show as a paintbrush icon.

3 Then open system 32 and locate the program of the same or similar name. Once located you will need to delete this, however it's clever. the program is write protected. Some you need to cut and paste it to your desktop. Reboot the system and before it has a chance to activate. In other words as soon as your startup programs begin to load-send it to your recycle bin. Now for the last piece.

Go back into regedit and under HK Current Users. Locate policies. Change all values to ';0';. this should restore the screensaver tab. AND if you've done your jobs correctly, the antivirus program should not delete it from your system.

Good luck. How do i install original XP screensaver - no tabs in settings?

I have the same problem. I'm looking for this ';phvc1c0er1q'; file, but I'm not finding it anywhere. Are you talking about setting the power policies to 0? How does that fix it?

Screen savers are only used as decoration these days.

The function for what they were designed is out dated for years now. Screen savers should prevent icons burning in in your screen. That is not happening any more. Unless you leave your pc on for a couple of months with the same icons on your desktop

Most people who still use screen savers do it as decoration. There are plenty of nice once you can find on the interenet.

You have of course tries already to righ click on desktop and go to properties There you must see Screen savers
