How can I stop my laptop logging me off due to inactivity?

I am using XP Pro. After a while I come back and the screen is black, Itouch the mouse and it takes me to the blue user login page. I'd rather it just stayed the way it was when I left it, how can I change this?

(It's not the screensaver that comes up it's the user account login page)

Thanks for your help. How can I stop my laptop logging me off due to inactivity?
Even though it's not the screen saver that comes up, it might have something to do with your screen saver settings. you may have the box next to ';on resume, display log screen'; checked. Check that, first. Next check your power options. (You may be able to get there from the screen saver screen, or you may have to go to Control Panel). Check to see if it's set to put your lap top to sleep or shut off your hard disks after a certain amount of time, that may be why you are getting a black screen when it's idle.

It's been a while since I used my lap top with XP (I have Vista now) but I remember having the same problem when I first got it and that's what it was, a combination of the screen saver kicking in and having that box checked, and the power option being set to turn off the hard disk after being idle for a while.

Hope that helps! How can I stop my laptop logging me off due to inactivity?
Please rightclick on your desktop, choose 'Properties' %26gt; Screen Saver %26gt; Uncheck 'On resume, display logon screen' checkbox %26gt; Apply your settings

You may also adjust the time for your monitor to turn off (either from that very Screen Saver tab, or from Control Panel %26gt; Power Options)

Go To:

Start Menu %26gt; Control Panel...

then figure it out
Go to desktop settings, then screen saver, then Power and change the settings

OR

it may be

Go to desktop settings, screen saver and unselect 'On resume password protect'.
Right click on the desktop and choose the bottom option personalise or something. Then choose screen saver and turn it off and find the option which says ';prompt log in screen'; when restarted.
You can set that up in you power options which can be found in the control panel or under the options for your laptop manufacturer. You will have to stop the computer from hibernating after a period of time.
Right click anywhere on the desktop, then click properties, go to the screen saver tab and set your screen saver to at least 1 hour, then right underneath that, click the button that says power, in the schemes tab, select ';presentation'; then OK.
ok. minimize and x out of everything. right click on the main screen and go to your properties and go to the screen savor tab. threre is a box that says on resume, display welcome screen. click that box and it shouldn't go to the log oorg/log on page. I hope this helps! :)
