For my Work computer, I want to change the screensaver to something else but I don't have all the access to do it. I can't change it from Display Properties. (No access, greyed out)
My account is defined as Administrator but I just don't have access to some things.
Here's what I tried that works:
goto
C:\Windows\system32
change the current screensaver name (logon.scr) to something else and rename/replace one of the existing windows screensaver to logon.scr
That method works for screensavers that comes with Windows.
The PROBLEM is when I have my own screensaver (that didn't come with Windows XP Pro), I can't use the same method above because it automatically changes the logon.scr back to the last Windows screensaver.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance. How can you change screensaver in Windows XP Pro? (not conventional way)?
Sounds like you have some nice group policies in place. Unless you remove your machine from the domain, there is not much you can do, if your admins are uwilling to open it up for you.
The admins are locking down your machine for a reason.
Imagine if you installed a screensaver that inadvertantly had some trojan/virus/infologger or something that would breach your corporate security. Do you want to be held liable? Do they? Something like that could cost a company thousands if not millions of dollars. I remember when some jerkoff at my company brought us the funlove virus that wiped out all the jpg files on the network. That cost a lot to repair.
