Normally, whenever i change a desktop background (the screen you see behind shortcuts when you load the computer), i can go to the control panel, click on ';appearence'; and an option to change the background will come up. However, there isn't one on my new netbook, but i can change the screensaver.
I've looked everywhere on my computer and can't find how to do it. Does anyone know, and does it have anything to do with the fact i have a windows 7 starter pack rather than windows 7?
Thanks in advance!Daft question, but how do i change the desktop background on my HP Mini netbook (windows 7 starter?)?
This option is not available in Windows 7 Starter. IMO, major MS blunder, but there are a few prog's out there that can do this for you.
Here's a link to one app that does this. There are a few others out there. Google for more.

Windows 7 Starter doesn't have the customization options (Microsoft hardly makes any money selling that SKU, so they wanted to make it really undesirable). If you want to change the background (and get the Aero effects like transparency), you'll have to use Windows Anytime Upgrade to switch to Windows 7 home premium.
